The Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholars Association (RCSA) is an academic organization comprised of recipients of the Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship, the most prestigious scholarship awarded by the University. Scholars are selected from thousands of applicants based on the recognition of their intellectual vitality, leadership skills, and contributions to the community.
What is our purpose?
The RCSA strives to promote values of scholarship, leadership, and fellowship. As an organization of high-achieving scholars with diverse academic interests, we dedicate our efforts to coordinating functions that promote learning and academic excellence. Such functions include topical seminars with distinguished faculty, a vibrant and intra- organizational Academic Mentorship Program, resume workshops, and student panels for research and study abroad opportunities. In addition to our emphasis on scholastic and professional development, the RCSA is also committed to improving the welfare of our communities. Many RCSA scholars dedicate their time to participate in community-building and service initiatives. Our active participation in the community is instrumental to increasing awareness of the issues facing the world today. RCSA cultivates the leadership skills and knowledge to help scholars prepare for the future and become more effective in contributing to our respective communities. The Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholars Association is proud to announce that we will be the sole host of the TEDxBerkeley event for the third straight year. With admission numbers estimated around 1800-2000 guests, TEDxBerkeley is a great way to bolster recognition and support amongst our large student population as well as influential members of our nation and community.
TED is an annual event where the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share their passions. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design–three broad subject areas that are shaping our future. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa.” The diverse audience– CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists–is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Steve Jobs, Sir Richard Branson and Bono.
